CIRCE case study on the impact of climate change on the W. Nile Delta
The West Nile delta is an important region for agriculture, tourism and industry. Sea-level rise is expected to exacerbate existing problems of coastal erosion and salt-water intrusion.
The main objective of this case study is to develop policies and management practices for the sustainable development of the region. To this end the project will focus on and integrated assessment of the impacts of sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion in low-lying areas, highlighting the potential socio-economic impacts of climate change and exploring available adaptation options for the region.
The Center For Environment and Development for Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) was the CIRCE partner leading on this case study.
