I was Lead Project Investigator for a Ecosystem Services and Poverty Alleviation Project Framework project entitled “Human Adaptation to Biodiversity Change: Building and Testing Concepts, Methods, and Tools for Understanding and Supporting Autonomous Adaptation,” with the University of Kent, Oxford University, SOAS at the University of London, and Rhodes University, South Africa. I have also published and lectured on Biodiversity Tipping Points and Human Resilience. I was the lead author of a paper entitled 'Scientific and Conceptual Framework for the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS)' for the FAO, and have worked for the FAO in Rome (5 years) as well as for the UN in Central America (10 years).
Currently I'm working with the Stockholm Resilience Centre to support integration of social analysis and gender into SRC's Socio-ecological Systems and resilience work within the GRAID programme. This involves development of conceptual frameworks, knowledge bases, assessment tools, and capacity building across multiples scales and with multiple stakeholders.
