Julia Barrott

weADAPT Knowledge Manager; SEI Research Fellow

As a weADAPT Knowledge Manager I work with the wider weADAPT team to manage and curate content for, and support the ongoing development and design of the weADAPT platform. I also foster current and new collaborations with internal and external partners.

In my role as a researcher, I am involved in the Adaptation at Altitude programme funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Stepping-Up Knowledge Exchange between Climate Adaptation Knowledge Platforms (KE4CAP) project, the SEI Initiative on Integrated Climate and Development Planning, and the TR2AIL 'Travel Tracker' tool aimed at aiding researchers and practitioners to reduce their carbon footprint. I also assist the Knowledge Management Director at SEI and play a key role in supporting organisational learning, particularly in relation to the development of tools and services for stakeholders. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in any of these projects.

I was involved in the EU H2020 PLACARD project between 2016-2020, where weADAPT Coordinator Sukaina Bharwani and I explored ways to transform information and knowledge management for climate action. Read more about this here. I am passionate about supporting knowledge exchange and brokering for enhanced learning, collaboration and coordination on climate action. This is work we are taking forward - please get in touch with Sukaina and I if you are interested in collaborating on this.

I hold a Masters degree in Environmental Geoscience from Imperial College London and a DPhil in Earth Sciences (past climate reconstruction over northwest Africa) from the University of Oxford. I joined SEI in September 2015 in order to pursue a research path relevant to sustainable development and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
