Participate in the APAN Webinar on Understanding Loss and Damage in Asia and the Pacific

Loss and damage (L&D) is a general term used in UN climate negotiations to refer to the consequences of climate change that go beyond what people can adapt to, or when options exist but a community does not have the resources and means to access them.

While vulnerable communities especially in Asia and the Pacific region directly experience loss and damage, the understanding of L&D sometimes remains at the conceptual stage for policymakers and practitioners due to the diversity of issues at local, national, and regional levels. Additionally, non-economic losses and damages such as the loss of culture, tradition, ecosystem, mental and emotional well-being are too date poorly understood.

This APAN webinar is aimed at enhancing knowledge and understanding of the science and international policy mechanisms established to avert, minimise and address L&D while providing an avenue to discuss approaches that are being implemented in the Asia-Pacific region. The webinar will also share CSO perspectives on the issue and their expectations for COP 27.

In this webinar, we will be joined by speakers from leading organizations in climate change discussions, who will provide significant inputs on understanding the science, policy dimensions and mechanisms to avert, minimise and address L&D.
